NYY 2, Toronto 1

October 1, 2017 – 8:17 am

Nice to see Sabathia end the season on an up note, going 5.2 innings and not giving up any runs. The post-season is all about the pitching, and overall the top four Yankee starters (all that matter in the post-season) match up pretty well with the other teams. Consistency, though, is certainly a potential problem. And then there’s the bullpen, where the top relievers right now are all pitching lights out. Over the last 30 games, the combination of Green-Kahnle-Robertson-Chapman have given up just one earned run. Add to that an offense that seems to have found it’s earlier season form, particularly with Judge and Bird, and we might, just might do well in October. Of course, that all depends on winning the wildcard game, which by definition is a total crap shoot.
