NYY 3, Boston 0

Wow, the Yankees actually have a winning streak! Amazingly, the last time that happened was well over a month ago, on June 11-12. That pretty much tells you everything you need to know about the last month for this team. And incredibly, it’s the pitching that gets all the credit. Sabathia continues to pitch solid, giving up just two hits (but five walks) in six innings, Clippard once again got his job done, and Green and Chapman topped off what is now 22 straight innings of shutout ball against the Red Sox. And note that the Boston offense is no slouch — they rank fourth in the league with 4.80 runs per game.

The offense is still struggling a bit, although they did get 12 hits. If “good” Tanaka shows up for the night cap, and the offense can just convert more of those hits into runs, the Yankees could actually end up winning a series. Something they also haven’t done for over a month.
