NYY 6, LA Angels 5

July 13, 2012 – 10:20 pm

Nice start to the second half for two guys who struggled in the first half. First you had Mark Teixeira looking like the Tex of old, delivering a 2-run homer early and then a critical 3-run game-tying homer in the eighth. But the huge game came from none other than Russell Martin, who had such an ugly first half in so many ways. Not only was Martin sharp defensively, throwing out three base runners, but he came through with the game-winning single in the eighth. If Tex has a big second half, and Martin gets things turned around as well, that could be huge for the Yankees.
