NYY 4, NY Mets 3

June 24, 2012 – 11:43 am

To give the Yankees a good shot at a W these days, the pitching has to hold the other team to three or fewer runs, and that’s exactly what Ivan Nova and the bullpen did last night. And sure enough, the only offense they could muster was two home runs, but thankfully one of them came with two runners on, and voila, the losing streak was stopped with a 4-3 win. And a big W it was, with the totally unhittable R.A. Dickey going for the Mets later tonight. Dickey hasn’t given up a single earned run in his last five starts, and not in his last 42.2 innings. And he hasn’t given up a home run in his last nine starts, which doesn’t bode well for the Yankees, since that’s about the only way they know to score runs these days.
