NYY 3, Atlanta 2

June 14, 2012 – 12:04 pm

And the beat goes on. Another quality start and another game-winning home run for the Bronx Bombers. It’s a beat you can get used to. In the month of June, Yankee pitchers have delivered 11 quality starts in 12 games. Of the 61 runs scored this month, 34 have come via homers. They homered at least once in every game they won. Yep, seems to be a pattern there.

In what is apparently becoming the “Year of the Pitcher” (who got this week’s no-hitter? Matt Cain was it?), the Yankees have a team ERA of 3.75 for the year (4th best in the league), and that’s steadily on the decline. Over the last 30 days it was 3.40 and over the last 10 games it’s a remarkable 1.90. And with David Robertson due back soon (knock on wood), and maybe even Joba Chamberlain in late summer, it’s just going to get better and better.
