Tampa Bay 7, NYY 3

June 8, 2012 – 10:38 am

So after Nova and Pettitte pitch like aces, you pretty much have to figure CC Sabathia is going to come out and pitch like a No. 5 starter. Right? Actually to be fair to CC, in terms of earned runs he did get a quality start. And in the end, the inept Yankee offense never stood much of a chance in this one, going up against the likes of David Price, now 8-3 with a 2.40 ERA. Once again it was lack of clutch hitting, going 1-for-10 with RISP. And particularly galling was the fifth inning, with the bases loaded and just one out (expected runs = 1.63) — and A-Rod strikes out and Cano grounds out. This RISP hitting nonsense has got to come to a stop at some point, no? Particularly the total ineptitude with the bases loaded, right? One can dream.
