LA Angels 9, NYY 8

May 29, 2012 – 11:26 am

What an ugly loss. Jered Weaver has to leave the game because of an injury before he’s even retired a single batter, and the Angels cough up three unearned runs in the first — that’s a gift-wrapped W if there ever was one. But alas, it took Phil “A.J.” Hughes just six batters to give the lead right back to the Angels. Every time you think Hughes has finally figured things out, he throws a stinker like this. Hopefully this was just a “bad day”, and he’ll get back in the groove he was in (his four previous starts were all “quality starts”). Consistency, though, is something he’s never seemed to master, at least as a starter.
