Wow, did Andy Pettitte pitch lights out! You have to go all the way back to 2009 to find a game where he struck out 9 batters, and all the way back to 2008 to find a game where he pitched 8 shutout innings. Man, is he ever going to be valuable to this team if he continues to pitch like that.

And alas, it’s that type pitching that will be required to win games with this bumbling, incompetent offense. Yes, they finally got a small outburst in the 8th against an obviously tired Bronson Arroyo, but their hitting with RISP once again was abysmal, running that streak to 3-for-48. You keep thinking it can’t get any worse, and yet it does.
