NYY 6, Boston 2

April 20, 2012 – 10:20 pm

CC Sabathia better be checking his rear view mirror, as Ivan Nova is in the process of passing him by and becoming the new ace of the Yankee staff. There was little doubt last year that Nova was the No. 2 starter, but there seemed to be a lot of skepticism about whether he could repeat that performance. Well, he sure is quickly erasing any doubt. He leads the starters in wins, in ERA, and in WHIP. Three starts, three Ws — no other starter has come even close. All hail our new ace.

The offense also finally seems to be waking up, getting double-digit hits now in 5 of the last 6 games. Combine that with a bullpen that continues to be lights out, and the only missing ingredient now is the rest of the starting rotation. Freddy Garcia is up tomorrow, and it sure would be nice to see him start to turn things around.
