More Ugliness

Boston 3, NYY 2.

What a disaster this series turned out to be. Going in, the common wisdom was that losing the series 1-2 with Colon losing to Lester and Garcia losing to Beckett wouldn’t be all that bad. But losing the series the way the Yankees did — with CC Sabathia getting shelled for the third straight time, and then Mariano Rivera blowing the save that would have actually given the series to the Yankees, which would have been a huge boost — that, I maintain, could be pretty devastating. No matter how you slice and dice it, right now Boston owns the Yankees big time, and most likely the road to the World Series is going to go through Beantown. And right now, that just doesn’t bode well.
