Freddy Keeps The Rotation On A Roll

June 22, 2011 – 4:35 pm

NYY 4, Cincinnati 2.

  • The starting rotation continues to amaze. This time it was Freddy Garcia going seven innings, and giving up just three hits and what should have been zero runs. And on a mere 89 pitches to boot, so in a rational world of bullpen management he could have easily gone eight, maybe even gotten a complete game. The Yankees are now 9-1 over their last ten games, and the most runs they have given up in any of those games is four. When you are pitching like that, the offense doesn’t matter so much.
  • What have I been saying about giving Jorge Posada time at first base and how that would pay off? Sure enough, Jorge got the game winning home run while playing the field. I’m sure the end of interleague play can’t get here fast enough for him!
  • Are we sure Ramiro Pena is supposed to be a pretty good defensive player? Sure could have fooled me in this game. Hopefully this was just a bad day for him.
