Offense Sleep Walking Yet Again

June 17, 2011 – 11:06 pm

Cubbies 3, NYY 1. This offense continues to boggle the mind. Yes, you can’t win them all, but when you are playing a team that’s 12 games below .500 and they are starting a pitcher who is 0-5 with a 5.90 ERA and a .308 BAA (yes, that’s not a typo, a BAA over .300!), how in the world do you score but one run? Doug Davis, who in six previous starts had gone more than five innings only once, went 7.1 innings against the mighty Yankees, allowing just one run on three hits. He hadn’t done that since July of 2009.

That’s as pathetic as it gets. Oh well, they’ll probably be back to scoring in double digits tomorrow.
