How Not To Start A Road Trip

May 28, 2011 – 9:22 am

Seattle 4, NYY 3.

Jorge Posada

  • With a 3-2 lead after five, you either send A.J. Burnett back out and hope he can battle through one more inning like he’s been doing all night, or you turn the game over to Robertson, Joba, and Mo. You can justify going either way. Joe Girardi instead inexplicably decided to go to the second string bullpen. And it worked out just like anyone could have predicted.
  • And for gawd’s sake, why do you then turn around and use Robertson AFTER the game has been lost???? If you are going to use him, use him when the game is on the line! Idiocy.
  • Where the hell was Jorge Posada’s mind during his fourth inning AB? Three meatballs right down the middle and he never even took the bat off his shoulder. This was BP and he slept through it.
  • And ditto for Eduardo Nunez’ mind in the eighth inning. You’re the tying run in scoring position late in the game, you can’t under ANY circumstances get picked off. Even in Little League that’s inexcusable.
  • The Yankees lead the majors in home runs with 76, 18 more than any other team. Seattle scored all four of their runs on infield ground outs. How’s that for in your face? Box Score | Gameday | FanGraphs Game Graph | PitchFX Game Tool
