That Was Lovely

Minnesota 5, NYY 4. Well, it’s hard to imagine a loss much uglier than this one. You get a true quality start from your ace and turn over a 4-0 lead in the eighth to the bullpen that is supposed to be the strength of your club, and you end up losing? Not good. Rafael Soriano is supposedly one of the best closers around, and arguably the best set-up man in the game today — and with a 4-0 lead he not only walks the lead-off hitter, but also walks two more batters over the next five he faces? Tell me, did Kyle Farnsworth ever stink it up this bad? Sheez, maybe Brian Cashman knew something he wasn’t telling us when he said he wasn’t on board with the Soriano deal….. no, let’s not go there.

OK, let’s chalk this one up to sh*t happens, and move on. So now tomorrow we’ve got our new No. 5 starter going up against our favorite ex-Yankee pitcher (Carl Pavano) and both our top relievers are more than likely not available. This should be fun.
