Perfect So Far!

NYY 6, Detroit 3. Hard to imagine a better start to the season than this! First off, you had Curtis Granderson picking up right where he left off last year with a long blast to the right field bleachers with what proved to be the game winning home run. And he added two great catches which put to rest any concerns over the oblique injury he suffered towards the end of spring training. Then there was Mark Teixeira getting a good start at getting the “early season slump” monkey off his back with a 3-run homer in his second AB of the season. And finally we got a good look at what should be the best back-end bullpen in baseball this season — Joba-to-Rafael-to-Mo gave the Yankees three perfect innings with three strike outs. Hopefully we are going to see a lot of that this year. For his part, CC Sabathia delivered a near-quality start, going six innings and giving up just three runs (two earned) along with seven Ks.

All in all, hard to ask for more. One down and 161 more to go!
