And Uglier Still……

Texas 4, NYY 1. This team looks like they are not even trying anymore. It’s not like they were facing the 2009 edition of Cliff Lee — this is the 2010 version, a pitcher who had a 6.35 ERA and .313 BAA in August. And yet they could only manage two hits in eight innings off him? Unbelievable. I guess the good news is that they only left a total of three men on base, and hit a sizzling 1-for-3 with RISP. Now that’s much improved over the last couple of games.

It will be interesting to see if these guys show any life at all once they get to Tampa Bay. You would think the division title would mean something, but maybe not? Maybe since they’ve got a playoff birth all but wrapped up, nothing means anything at all to them until the playoffs actually start? That’s about the only explanation I can come up with for how they have been playing over the last two series.
