The Return Of Bad A.J.

May 10, 2010 – 8:51 am

Boston 9, NYY 3. I called this one a couple of days ago — last year Bad A.J. showed up roughly every third start, and sure enough after two excellent starts Bad A.J. showed up last night right on schedule. And just like last year, when he shows up he pitches the Yankees so far out of the game that there’s no way the offense can come back. So it looks like this year’s version of A.J. is the same old A.J. that we learned to love and hate last year. What ya gonna do?

At least the Yankees continued winning series, which is the important thing. That’s nine of ten series wins so far this season. Next up is a visit to Detroit which should be fun, what with all the former Yankees there who are having strong seasons so far. Johnny Damon is hitting a respectable .302, and former Yankee farm product Austin Jackson is batting a solid .370. And in the bullpen good old reliable Phil Coke is already 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA. Hopefully none of these guys does too much damage to their former team!
