Are The Wheels Coming Off?

Tampa Bay 8, NYY 6.  You have to start asking yourself just how much worse can things get here?  The Yankees have now lost 5 in a row, and just been swept back-to-back at home by Boston and Tampa Bay.  Teixeira is once again below the Mendoza line, and Cano and Swisher are both starting to look more and more like they are regressing back to the ugly years they had last year.  And the stink in the bullpen now includes even Mariano Rivera, who has now given up 4 home runs in just 12 appearances.  Mariano hasn’t given up more than four home runs in an entire season for the last eight years.  You have to start wondering if age has finally caught up with The Sandman — and if that’s the case, how in the world can this season end in anything other than disaster?

Maybe we can figure out a way to clone Johnny Damon, who seems to be the only player lately playing with any kind of enthusiasm.  We could use about a half-dozen of those clones as position players, and another half-dozen as pitchers.  And maybe a Damon clone could close as well?
