More Ugliness

April 8, 2009 – 10:35 pm

Baltimore 7, NYY 5. The ugliness continues. Sheez, our two “aces” now have a combined ERA of 14.63 with zero strike outs over 8 innings. And pitching is supposed to be the strength of this team. Yikes.

On the optimistic side, though — once again they didn’t throw up their skirts when they got behind 7-1. They actually managed to bring the tying run to the plate in the 9th, although it turned out to be too little too late. And other good news is that Jorge Posada and Robbie Cano are off to good starts both offensively and defensively. If both of them can turn in years like they had two years ago, that’s going to help tremendously.

So now it’s up to A.J. Burnett to stop the bleeding. Should be interesting.
