The Bats Come Alive

NYY 7, Oakland 1.  Now that’s more like it — maybe the four days’ off was what the Yankee offense needed?  It’s just one game, but it’s a start!  As David Cone noted during the game, really all they need to do is have everyone play at their career averages and that should be offense enough to carry the team.  Particularly the way they are pitching right now.  It’s not like they need a bunch of guys to all of a sudden start playing way over their heads.  Just do what they are capable of doing, that’s all.

Meanwhile, what’s the deal with Yankees sliding in to first base?  Just as it seems they might have broken Melky Cabrera of the habit, along comes Brett Gardner who is doing it.  How do young players make it all the way to the big leagues without someone along the line breaking them of this habit?  And who taught them to do it in the first place?  Inquiring minds need to know these things…..
