NYY 2, Tampa Bay 1. The offense continues to absolutely suck — that’s now two or fewer runs in six of the last 10 games. Actually that goes way beyond sucking. But the good news is that the pitching continues to shine, even with Sir Sidney on the mound. Captain Clutch again came through, scoring both of the Yankee runs, and a slumping Bobby Abreu got the game-winner. That’s at least two good signs.

So now they have four games left before the All-Star break, all against sub-500 teams. Maybe that’s what they need to get the offense going? Ya think? If somehow they can win three out of four, that will put them nine games over .500, and probably six or seven back in the loss column. Remember that last year at the break they were even at .500 and nine back in the loss column. So all things considered….. well, it could be a lot worse.
