The Sweep Avoided

NYY 18, Texas 7. The bats finally came alive — although it took facing a converted outfielder making his first major league appearance to get them jump started. That looked to be not much more than taking BP, so it’s hard to get all that excited. The reality is that the Yankees just lost two of three at home to the second-to-last-place team in the worst division in the league. Anyway, it will be interesting to see if any of this carries over to the weekend, with Boston coming in for a four-game series. Who incidentally just got swept by Tampa Bay! Man, they got to be wondering what they got hit by. Hopefully they will still be shell-shocked, as the Yankees really need to get things kicked back in to high gear before the All-Star break.
