Offense is once again MIA

June 30, 2008 – 10:20 pm

Texas 2, NYY 1.  That was certainly a through-the-looking glass game.  Mussina and friends threw a gem, holding the mighty Texas offense to two runs, even fitting league-leader Milton Bradley (.323 BA) with a golden sombrero.  But it was all for naught, as once again the Yankee offense took the night off.  The Yankees have now scored two or fewer runs in 26 games — compare that to 22 for Tampa Bay and only 19 for Boston.  That difference pretty much corresponds to the differences in the W-L records of the three teams.  Why this offense is so erratic is a mystery to me.

Looks like it might take a shutout from Joba tomorrow to even the series.  Yikes.
